When someone is arrested, they
will most often be taken to a local law enforcement station for booking prior to
incarceration. Once arrested and booked, the defendant has several options
for release pending the conclusion of their case. If the defendant is
not released on their own (personal) recognizance (called O.R. or P.R.), they will need to post bail. Bail
amounts are set by the judge and secure a prisoner's release pending the hearing
of their case, and the amounts are set to guarantee the appearance of a
defendant in court. The type of information that Henry's Bail Bonds needs to secure the release of the inmate is
as follows:
The
person's name and date of birth
The jail
where they are being held
What they
are being charged with
The inmate
booking number
The bail
amount
Information
regarding collateral and other financial arrangements for the bail bond.
A reliable
way to contact you or the person helping secure the defendant's freedom such as home
and work phone numbers, and any additional phones (cell phones or
beepers), email addresses, fax numbers, etc.
See
our Legal Resources page for help on
obtaining all of the above information
Additional information that
may be requested from those helping the inmate:
Basic
questions regarding who, what,
where and why the person is in custody.
Personal
history of the inmate, previous arrests/convictions, current job and living
situation, etc.
What happens after the bail
arrangements are satisfactory for all concerned:
Normally,
there is no need for a friend/family member to go to the jail for the
bail posting process, and in most cases, only a licensed bail bond
agent can post bail. The bail bondsman assigned to the case will contact the facility where the
person is being held, ascertain the exact bail specifications and
conditions of release, and work with the facility (and you) to develop
a plan for the fastest release possible.
Please
remember, law enforcement facilities (particularly in large cities)
are often busy and all have a specific procedure for release over
which Henry's Bail Bonds has no control. In addition to that, each case in unique;
therefore we cannot specify the time the person in custody
will
actually be allowed to leave the facility. However, it is our
policy to give you as much information as is available to us in order
to help bring about a quick release.
